Landy is from Pennsylvania, US. She began teaching herself photography, graphic design, and web programming languages when she was 14 years old. She joined the W-BAD web design, administration, and development team in early 2017 and enjoys volunteering her time and skills in this area as much as her health permits. She is grateful to John Koons of johnkoons.com and to Professors Lader and Ashton for their guidance of the team during the website development process.
She was the founder of “Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Syndrome: The Blog” from 2011 to 2014 and has researched BWS, PWS, and her other health conditions thoroughly. Part of her story with BWS was featured in the February 2014 issue of SELF magazine.
While she still struggles with ups and downs in managing her health conditions that were complicated by BWS, she has made good progress. She is passionate about her hobbies and interests which include astrophotography, wildlife conservation, animal rights activism and bunny rescue. She believes that being proactive in making informed decisions about one’s own healthcare, having supportive healthcare providers, and a supportive environment conducive to living a healthy lifestyle are key factors in long-term success in the management of chronic health conditions, central nervous system injury recovery, and general quality of life.
