Formerly an entrepreneur and owner at Che Dolce, Mer is currently a marriage and family therapist. Having trained as a dual-diagnosis substance abuse counselor, Mer also holds a certification from the NCGPA in group dynamic psychotherapy. Meredith contributed to phase I research efforts investigating the biological mechanism behind positive persistent visual disturbances at the University of California, San Francisco.

Mer was heavily involved as a volunteer in W-BAD’s inaugural year events and planning. Also in 2016 she helped with fundraising efforts on Holly Hardman’s groundbreaking documentary-in-the-making¬†As Prescribed. This documentary film project examines the global benzodiazepine epidemic as it follows the journeys of several individuals harmed by this iatrogenic illness. For W-BAD 2017, Mer was instrumental in having W-BAD’s awareness ribbon designed to resemble a “wave” (representing the “waves,” or the periods of intensifying symptoms, seen in benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome).

Mer is eager to continue work with Geraldine Burns doing benzodiazepine advocacy work and plans to initiate efforts to bring legislative reform to her own state of California.
