Formerly an entrepreneur and owner at Che Dolce, Mer is currently a marriage and family therapist. Having trained as a dual-diagnosis substance abuse counselor, Mer also holds a certification from the NCGPA in group dynamic psychotherapy. Meredith contributed to phase I research efforts investigating the biological mechanism behind positive persistent visual disturbances at the University of California, San Francisco.
Mer was heavily involved as a volunteer in W-BAD’s inaugural year events and planning. Also in 2016 she helped with fundraising efforts on Holly Hardman’s groundbreaking documentary-in-the-making As Prescribed. This documentary film project examines the global benzodiazepine epidemic as it follows the journeys of several individuals harmed by this iatrogenic illness. For W-BAD 2017, Mer was instrumental in having W-BAD’s awareness ribbon designed to resemble a “wave” (representing the “waves,” or the periods of intensifying symptoms, seen in benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome).
